  • Dealing with generalized anxiety what works best?

    I really like to keep focusing in what really helps, What works the best for you when you are felling uneasiness and general anxiety that has not a particular cause. For me the Top 3 are: 1) meditation or mantra singing (krishna dass is a great one to start with) 2) go our and Rollerblade for a few ours or take walk 3) concentrate in the task a hand and keep busy. hope it helps and looking forward to hear what is yours...   • Does anyone experience tetany during panic attacks?

    I have had agoraphobia and panic attacks since I was 4 or 5. I am 19 now. I struggled for a while last year when I couldn't even leave the house but got on Lexapro and was able to go to college far away and feel a lot better. I have had less panic attacks now that time has passed but today, while driving, I had a random panic attack that I think was triggered by caffeine and high heart rate. My lower chest has a ton of pressure, pins and needles consumed my body, and my hands and, for the first time, my face muscles contorted (pucker-like) and my eyes became squinty. I could not move. It was scary because I was driving and was basically immobile. I knew this wasn't a heart attack because I have had the pins and needles/hand muscle spasms before, due to lack of proper breathing from panic. I talked myself down a little and was able to get home. 2 hours have passed and I still am sore and a little numb. I am nervous because I am flying for the first time in a while to D.C from Los Angeles and I am terrified this will happen on the plane. Does anyone have a similar experience? What do you take on a plane to calm down? Do you have anything that helps you distract yourself? Thank you.
  • Does anyone have issuees with Anxiety interfering with their work?

    Hi... I'm new at this but I've been struggling with anxiety and depression for years. It seems to come and go with how stressed out I am in my life, and I've recently come into a lot of stress with my health. I finally got the courage to go to my doctor about it, and there's a lot of things that he's suggested doing that are very scary to me and it's made everything flare up all over again. I'm starting a very strict diet that I am struggling with and it seems like everything makes me feel like I'm worthless, which triggers anxiety over how I'm going to end up alone with no one wanting to be around me because I'm freaking out all the time. I'm so scared I can hardly breath sometimes. My brain yells at me that I'm having a heart attack or that I have some weird disease no one can diagnose, or that I'm dying even though my doctor tells me I'm pretty much healthy aside from a few issues. I know it's a long explanation, but these attacks have started to happen in the middle of work where I can't necessarily ask everyone to stop what they're doing and let me take my meds and a breather and regroup. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you handle it? Any help would be really appreciated, and anyone willing to lend an ear more so. I feel so isolated... like I'm the only one who doesn't have it together.

  • I'm scared I might have DVT! (Deep vein thrombosis)

    I'm an 18 year old male and my leg has been hurting for like a week now a ton and sometimes I get chest pains to go with it. I know its bad to google symptoms with anxiety but I read and feel like I might have DVT (Deep vein thrombosis) My leg isn't swollen or feel hot to touch but it does hurt and I get chest and throat squeezing and pain. I got an ekg and cbc blood test two days ago and it came out as fine but I ended up reading online that those tests won't tell the doctors about DVT because it needs specfic test. Now for the worst part I learned that DVT can give you pulmonary emoblism where it kills your lungs with a clot so now im even more scared! I have nobody to take me or willing to take me to a hospital to get checked out because I complain to much they say. Im like too nervous to sleep afraid I'll die in my sleep but I haven't injured my leg and I tend to get up and move around a ton. I'm 18 years old and a guy am I being over dramatic and will I be okay?
  • I'm stuck

    Lately I've been feeling stuck, like I'm not improving. I'm not getting worse either. But it seems like I've been doing better. But I'm not sure if it's because I am getting better and the working on myself is actually doing something. Or I'm only feeling like I'm doing better because the main trigger for my anxiety and depression is momentarily gone. I just don't know what to do. The working on myself is expressing my emotions and feelings more, and trying to reach out to my friends. I've been figuring out what Happens during an attack and what helps. I know myself pretty well in that area. But I want to be able to do more then just coping with it. I want it to get less. I only have no idea how
  • Monophobia- Fear of Being Alone

    Does anyone else suffer from monophobia (fear of being alone)? I have a terrible time sleeping at night in an empty house. Any suggestions?

    I have not been able to leave my house for almost 6 months now. I cannot push myself to go. My parents have to force me in the car and I have only left a total of 3 times (all 3 times I was forced). Every time I get in the car to go somewhere, I get halfway down my street, start panicking and go home. I can't even get to the end of my neighborhood without panicking. I am tired of living like this. I am tired of feeling helpless and worthless. When I panic, I feel nauseous and its so incredibly uncomfortable. How do I get over this? Please help me. I am open to any and all advice.

    So for the past day or so iv had a quiet but annoying ringing in my ear. Im only 19 and i started worrying whether it was tinnitus... is it just my anxiety making an appearance?
  • Tongue Picking Problem

    I'm not sure if I have anxiety or ocd but am very skeptical that I do. I have an odd problem with picking/pulling off taste buds. Ive had this problem for as long as I can remember, i get so into it I dont even notice when I do it until my tongue is missing chunks and my fingers are bloody. Its so disgusting, unsanitary, painful, and just weird. I dont know whats wrong with me and i dont know how to stop.
