How do you deal with anxiety-induced focus problems?

Normally I'm a very focused individual but when I enter high anxiety times/situations (generally when I have a lot to do) I lose the ability to focus on anything for longer than a couple of minutes. This is very frustrating, and makes me even more anxious. Its a horrible catch-22, and I would like to know if anyone else has this problem and how they deal with it, besides the old deep breathing technique which has lost a lot of effectiveness for me.

I love my to-do list but when it gets bad enough for focus problems I see what I need to get done, and even breaking down tasks doesn't help me stay focused.

I find that setting a timer for 90 minutes or a longer period of time, (may have to start off with less time) and telling myself that I have to sit and work until the timer goes off really helps. Usually I will take 10ish minutes to clear everything out of my head before starting so I can focus on the work. Once the timer goes off, you can reward yourself with a break and then back to the timer and work.
