Well, there are different ways to deal with this. For me there are three methods: spiritual, physical and chemicals. You have to choose whatever works for you. No I will explain what I understand. Keep in mind I am not a professional so this is not me telling you what to do. As a fellow patient I am compelled to tell you what has worked for me in the past. Let's start with the physical methods. Dealing with anxiety can take many paths and the time varies from person to person. If your issue is night time anxiety the something that worked for me was sleeping more. Now, you will say: "But... that is the problem, I can't sleep." A while ago I started exercising in the afternoons around 6 to 8 p.m. and by the time I got home I was so tired that I just had to shower and go to sleep. You can try this any time you feel like. Also you can use anything that distracts you. Music, video games, playing an instrument. You have to choose what works for you. Chemical: It's no secret that our emotions and feelings are simply projections of our chemical balance. Your body secretes endorphin, serotonin and dopamine. On the contrary, when stressed or on fight or flight mode you produce adrenaline and cortisol. So knowing this stuff is important. Chemicals affect the way you handle things. By this I don't mean only taking medication. I realized for example that drinking coffee was really a problem with my anxiety. The days I would not drink coffee then It would be easier for me to handle anxiety. So I stopped coffee, cigarettes and alcohol. After a while I started consuming alcohol occasionally and coffee only in the mornings. The improvement has been amazing. I replaced afternoon coffee with chamomile tea. In rare occasions I had to take pills to help me sleep. But, if I was really bad on a specific day then I would take some really mild relaxant. Nothing heavy and not everyday. People like us have to avoid dependencies and addictions. Spiritually it is all about acceptance. Accept and understand the fact that you are going to die and you do not know when. Anxiety usually happens when we worry about things that we can't control. So accept that whatever is causing your anxiety is really not in your control. And if it is, then work on that so it wont be a problem. I hope this helps.
