How do you stop your mind racing?

What works for you? I can't seem to stop my mind and thoughts racing at all. The only time I have a bit of peace is when I'm asleep. It's actually driving me insane!

When I'm in anxiety mode, it can be hard to stop the negative thoughts racing in my mind. I used to play a game in my head: What 10 things can you see? What 10 things can you feel? What 10 things can you smell?

I have a hard time with the constant videos playing in my head. But theses are wonderful suggestions, to just stop, take a breath, and start asking yourself these questions. Very clever.

It certainly stops your panic mind for awhile.

Thank you so much! I have tried the 10 things questions before. As well as an alphabet one too. I just find that at times I get to over run with anxiety that they won't work or I forget about them. I'll keep trying them though

Listen to a grandfather clock tick in a room by yourself or the sounds coming in from a window. And sit comfortably and look at something in front of you and suspend judgement of whatever it is you see. You cannot think of anything else while doing those things, it's impossible. It's a lot more difficult than it sounds to sit, listen, look and not judge/compare/rate what you're looking at but it gets easier
