I don't think there is a "best" one. There are few ways to overcome and each person likes a different way... Read about the ways and choose what you want to try.....
You can try overcoming by yourself or go to a therapy. There is a lot of good information about overcoming on the internet...
Basicaly, try not to avoid social because it can increase your anxiety if you do...
I am in therapy and find it very helpful. I think the best answer is: socialize. Ugh! I know, right? Horrible. But those of us who are bad or afraid of it are the ones who need the most practice. My blog is one thing I use to motivate me to push myself out of my comfort zone. I want to go on some adventures. It's tricky right now because I don't have a lot of money...but I will go on some soon.
A lot of people say cognitive-behavior therapy is the most helpful, but it hasn't worked for me and I've been at it for about 9 months (exposure therapy and the whole bit!). But it just might work for you. Whatever you try, it will be painful, and take time, but I hope you'll keep at it! Good luck!
